The Forlì and Rimini Campuses of Bologna University played a Business Game on Human Capital Disclosure within Integrated Reporting. More than 63 students participated in 3 courses (of 3 different Degree Programs).
The team developed a box/board game to be played in team, to submit to accounting classes when dealing with sustainability and integrated reporting.
Gamification is one of the most recent educational tools developed to motivate students during their teaching/learning process. The benefit of applying gamification to learning is linked to its impact on students’ physiological processes, as gamification changes motivation and attitude toward the learning process.
Literature on accounting education proves that game-based learning stimulates intrinsic and
extrinsic motivation more than traditional methods. Furthermore, gamification boosts the development of key soft skills, like communication, problem-solving, negotiation, teamworking, and decision-making.
